Five Tribune Newspapers to Seek Job Cuts
The seemingly unrelated stories of Michael Ramirez being let go from the LA Times and KAL taking a buyout at the Sun are connected. According to Yahoo News and The Chicago Tribune, Tribune Co is slashing jobs across most of its papers. This is probably even connected to why Jeff MacNelly’s position at the Chicago Tribune was never filled.
Other papers in the Tribune Co. family that are cutting back on personnel include Orlando Sentinel (losing a ‘limited’ number of personnel), The Morning Call in Allentown, Pa will offer buyouts, San Jose Mercury News (already offered buyouts), LA Times and Chicago Tribune.
